El Malo is a contemporary Latin rock band out of Portland, Maine.  The band plays well-crafted original instrumentals with a few classic salsa tunes thrown in and have a deserved reputation for getting crowds moving, even for people for whom Latin music isn't necessarily familiar or a first choice. The band has dubbed their sound “salsacore,” and it is certainly an appropriate description. Their intense live shows have earned them quite the local fanbase.
